SE Neb. county attorney responds to recall attempt - Houston Chronicle

YORK, Neb. (AP) ? The York County attorney has filed his official response in an attempt to recall him from office.

The News-Times reports (http://bit.ly/pCpzJO ) Bill Sutter submitted the response Friday to the county clerk. In it, he says he has performed his duties to the best of his ability and never refused to prosecute any cases.

Sutter has been York County attorney since April 2010.

Complaints from his staff prompted two York County commissioners to file paperwork to recall Sutter.

Now that Sutter has filed his response, the county clerk has 20 days to prepare the recall petition. Sutter's opponents will then have 30 days to gather 1,165 signatures needed to force a recall election.
