Police: Drunken Driver Runs Over Officer

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- An Albuquerque police officer was hit by drunken driver Sunday night, according to police.Police said Officer Justin Montgomery was patrolling near Third Street and Central Avenue on his bike Sunday when he stopped a car that was driving with no headlights.The driver, Benito Aragon, was believed to be drunk, according to police. Police said Aragon started to drive away, dragging Montgomery alongside his car. The officer was able to break free, but the car's back tire ran over his leg. Montgomery was taken to University of New Mexico Hospital, where he's in surgery.Aragon was arrested and charged with great bodily harm by vehicle and eluding police.
